::::::::::: Internationaler Preis für Junges Kunsthandwerk, 3º Prize BKV 2009, Bayern - Germany ::::::::::: Lingam Management: Ruudt Peters Place: Gallery Vita Havet, Konstfack (Hagersten, Stockholm, Sweden) 07-Sep-2009 - 12-Sep-2009 Speaker Guus van de Hout director Museum Catharijneconvent This is a project arranged by Ruudt Peters an artist from the Netherlands, and will feature over 120 works of art from artists and designers all over the world. The exhibition will take place from the 7 – 12 of September 2009, in gallery Vita Havet, Konstfack, in Stockholm Sweden. The show will then travel to The Museum Catharijne convent in Utrecht, the Netherlands, a museum focusing on religious art. The exhibition revolves around the topic of sex and fertility in modern day culture. As you may or may not be aware of, the concept of fertility is still extremely fragmented as seen from country to country. An example of this being the extremely visible sexual forms used in daily life in Southeast Asia. Sex and fertility are extremely personal values, values that take on certain aesthetics. The goal of this exhibition is to gather together hundreds of extremely personal points of view on the subject in a visual format. The title of this exhibition is LINGAM, a mysterious word with many contradictory definitions, typically linked to a mystical phallic symbol, most commonly accepted as a celebration of fertility and life. Links can even be found in Swedish culture, the event of middsommar is deeply rooted in ideas and aesthetics dealing with new life and fertility.
